    Rebecca, Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer Specialist: Some days we might be helping a family experiencing domestic violence. Other days we may be helping Elders who need to relocate due to medical reasons.

    Sarah, Housing Services: Large part of the role is building those relationships and Partnerships.

    Rebecca: I'm an Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer Specialist, I proudly live on Dharawal Country.

    Sarah: Hi my name is Sarah, I'm a proud Yorta Yorta woman, I work for Housing Services at the Department of Communities and Justice.

    Sarah: A day in my role is I could be providing support to someone needing to access any housing products, but also clients who may have a tenancy that are having some issues.

Role overview

As a Client Services Team Leader, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Housing Client Service Teams providing direction, support and feedback for all team members to facilitate delivery of a broad range of housing solutions that ensure customers receive quality outcomes. You will also contribute to asset and service delivery planning.

As Team Leader you will be open to new and diverse experiences and your ability to manage key relationships and implement change will be pivotal to your success.

Key skills

  • demonstrated experience leading and managing teams within a high-volume customer focused work environment
  • demonstrated experience and the ability to manage relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders
  • demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with other service delivery teams to enhance the quality of service delivery and client outcomes
  • excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • demonstrated experience in delivering results and meeting KPIs
  • demonstrated ability to research and analyse information and make decisions based on relevant evidence.

Role requirements

  • tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. 

Additional information

Key accountabilities
  • Allocating work, monitoring, and reporting on team performance based on service priorities and program requirements to ensure service delivery commitments are met
  • managing the team budget and quality of work generated by the team as well as compliance with relevant policy and legislation in relation to the Housing Act, including work health and safety; equity and diversity
  • supporting development of the team and providing training as needed to maximise team performance
  • contributing to business and performance planning at the district level and plan activities and projects to ensure the team meets broader planning and service commitments
  • promoting and participating in community building programs and whole of government initiatives to strengthen communities and enhance opportunities for community participation
  • establishing and maintaining relationships with key partners including police, area health, local members, other government and non-government service providers to better meet client needs
  • working collaboratively with other service delivery teams within the district to enhance access, effectiveness and quality of service delivery and client outcomes.
