Communities and Justice

Working together with Community

What is co-design?

One Mob One Job are using co-design to support shared decision-making and formal partnerships with community in two footprint locations, South West Sydney and Orange.

By designing in partnership with each other, we can open the door for meaningful truth-telling about government policies and services and how they impact families and communities.

Place-based co-design goes further than usual government methods of community engagement. It brings community members and groups with lived experience into the decision-making process with NSW Government leaders to deliver better outcomes.

One Mob One Job is using a place-based approach to develop strong relationships with community, staff and leaders in its footprint locations.

The co-design approach is guided by the below steps. These steps can occur in any order, as the co-design process is led by the community. The community shapes our approach.

Connecting with community

We would like to connect with community members in South West Sydney and Orange who have lived experience or know someone with lived experience in:

  • Child removal from family
  • Social housing needs and applications
  • Homelessness
  • Domestic and family violence services
  • Going to court, prison or youth detention

We need Community knowledge to help improve these areas for families. Whether it is the experiences of a client, a carer, or a supporter, these experiences matter.

Community members are helping us build better, more effective services that truly meet the needs of families. Together, we can make a real difference in the way services are designed and delivered, making them more respectful, effective, and supporting.

If you would like to speak with one of our team about your experiences with government services, please contact onemob.onejob@dcj.nsw.gov.au
