Section 27 of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (NSW) permits the Anti-Slavery Commissioner to develop and publish codes of practice. Codes of Practice will guide organisations in identifying modern slavery taking place within their operations and supply chains and taking steps to remediate or monitor these identified risks.
The NSW Anti-Slavery Commissioner, in partnership with the Clean Energy Council, is developing a code of practice on managing modern slavery risks in renewable energy value chains.
A Discussion Paper, published in August 2023, explains the case for a code of practice (see below). The Discussion Paper also outlines how this standard will be developed and a proposed related Implementation Guide(s).
Industry, government, civil society, unions, and members of the public will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft code through a transparent consultation process.
More information will be shared here as it becomes available.
