Book a JP frequently asked questions

Do I have to provide JP services from my home address?

No, it is up to you where you provide JP services from; be it from home, a library, an office etc. The booking system is designed to show the public which JPs are closest to them. Once a booking is confirmed, you can arrange to meet them at a mutually convenient place.

Why have I been asked to update my personal address?

Your address needs to be updated so that our booking technology can connect member of the public to JPs near their location. Your personal address will never be shared with members of the public. It only needs to be updated for the purposes of calculating the distance.

Why are you introducing the new booking system?

The new booking system will make it easier for the public to book services with JPs near their location.

Will my contact details be shared before I accept a booking, or after?

On the booking system, members of the public will be able to see JPs by suburb. Once they make a booking request, and the JP accepts it, then they will see that JP’s contact phone number to contact them.

I conduct JP services at different locations on different days. What address should I enter on JP Online?

Please provide the address you primarily conduct JP services from. Once a booking is confirmed, you can arrange to meet them at a mutually convenient place.

What happens if I am unavailable to accept a booking request?

If you are unavailable to accept a booking request, simply ignore the booking request email.

My service times change on a regular basis. Can I update my service times frequently?

Yes. If you are unable to provide an ongoing weekly schedule of availabilities, you can log into JP Online each week and update your service timings.

When will the new booking system be introduced?

The new booking system will be introduced in early 2024 The Department will communicate the exact date via email.
