The DCJ DIAP 2026–2029 is guided by the four focus areas of the NSW Disability Inclusion Plan (DIP) 2026–2029, which are linked to outcome areas of Australia’s Disability Strategy (ADS) 2021–2031. We support the strategic vision of the ADS and DIP for an inclusive Australian society where people with disability can fulfil their potential as equal members of the community.
The DCJ Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2026–2029 has 41 actions that will help us create an inclusive future for:
Some of our actions apply to all of DCJ while others are about improving services on a local level. All divisions of DCJ will take action to improve disability inclusion. DCJ will work with disability organisations for some of our actions.
This DIAP will run for four years from January 2026 to December 2029.
By the end of this DIAP, many of our actions will become part of core business. We will continue to encourage teams to think about disability inclusion in their work. Accessibility and inclusion will keep being be a part of our work.
Our actions complement the NSW Government disability reform agenda, including work done as part of the NSW Government response to the Disability Royal Commission and the NDIS Review.
When we developed this DIAP, we spoke with a range of people. This included:
We thank everyone involved for your feedback and advice as we developed this DIAP. We also thank people with lived experience for sharing your experiences and helping make DCJ a more inclusive organisation.
DCJ is committed to reporting every year on how we are implementing our DIAP. We will use measurements from our actions to see what is working and what more we can be do. This progress report will form part of the DCJ annual report, which is available on our website.
Additionally, DCJ supports the Minister for Disability Inclusion to report on DIAP implementation across NSW Government departments, prescribed agencies, and local councils every year. Our DIAP progress report will contribute to this overall report.
The DCJ Executive Leadership Team (ELT) is committed to improving disability inclusion across all divisions. The ELT has final responsibility over the implementation and reporting for this DIAP.
We will continue to have a senior executive serve as the Executive Sponsor for the DCJ Disability Employee Network (DEN). The Executive Sponsor gives support and guidance to the DEN as well as supporting disability inclusion in DCJ.
