Domestic and Family Violence Commissioning 2026

Overview

Planning is underway to commission a number of domestic and family violence (DFV) programs with contracts expiring 30 June 2026.

Which DFV programs are being commissioned?

  • Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV)
  • Integrated Domestic and Family Violence Service (IDFVS)
  • Specialist Workers for Children and Young People (SWCYP).

What is the DFV Commissioning approach?

DFV Commissioning will be undertaken in alignment with the Homelessness Commissioning process.

Women’s refuges and Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) services will be commissioned through the Homelessness Commissioning process.

New contract terms will be for 5 years (2026 – 2031) in line with the Secure Jobs and Funding Certainty election commitment made by the NSW Government.

We value the work of the DFV sector and recognise the demand for services is high. Service continuity is important, so we are implementing a commissioning approach that aims to be least disruptive for continued service delivery.

Note:

  • New SHLV and IDFVS services funded through the DFV Emergency Package commissioned in 2025 will be contracted to 2031 for service stability and alignment with the new commissioning contracting period; and
  • Keeping Women Safe in Their Home (KWSITH) contracts that expire 30 June 2025 will be extended to 2026. These contracts will be commissioned to 2027 aligned with Commonwealth funding commitments.

Next steps

Contract negotiations will occur later in 2025 to allow plenty of time for these negotiations to be finalised before 30 June 2026. Local Commissioning and Planning teams will be the primary contacts for all services.
