Communities and Justice

Understanding your local area

Each community has different priorities and needs. The TEI program is flexible, responsive and locally based, so that people can get the right support. Here you will find a variety of DCJ and external data to support local planning and service design.

Data Exchange (DEX) Community Data Profiles

DEX Community Profiles reports combine a number of publicly available population-level datasets to show a picture of the community selected based on location. This allows for a rich picture of the community, location and region in which services are delivered, and where clients come from.  The reports include details on the following:

  • Population Demographics
  • SEIFA Deciles
  • Physical Health
  • Mental Health
  • Disability
  • Personal and Family Safety
  • Community Participation and Networks
  • Age Appropriate Development
  • Managing Money
  • Material Wellbeing
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Family Functioning
  • Housing
  • Defence
Important to know about the DEX Community Profiles report
  • There are three editions of this report.  The latest version contains 2021 Census data.
  • Population data is broken down into Statistical Area 2, 3 and 4 rather than by LGA.
  • To access the report, a DEX log in is required.  Click the ‘Portal Login’ tab at: https://dex.dss.gov.au/
