Strong connections – Tanya’s story

“I met Kate and it was like I had met someone who I had known for a long time. I didn’t need to go any further.”

“I’m happy and I know that I’m safe here.”

Tanya pictured sitting on a bed holding up printed pictures of her children to the camera.

“If you stick with your goals and never give up, you will get what you really, really want. If it’s in your heart, follow it. It will come.”

How being home helped Tanya in other areas of her life

Nowra was where Tanya really wanted to be. Finding a permanent home there helped her prioritise her health and stay connected to community and family.

“Within a couple of days they said, we are offering this permanent tenancy to Tanya.” Kate

“Since Tanya has been housed, the improvements are improved health, stability.” Kate

Social & community

“Family are able to come visit. The grandkids can come stay on the weekends.” Kate
