Organisations across NSW have been awarded funding to stage an exciting array of activities and events during the 2024 NSW Seniors Festival.
Local councils and community groups have shared in $200,000 in funding to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy at the 2024 NSW Seniors Festival running from Monday 11 March – Sunday 24 March 2024.
Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison said funding was allocated to organisations across NSW so seniors from all corners of the state can participate in the festivities.
“There are so many wonderful ways to get involved with the 2024 Seniors Festival,” Minister Harrison said.
“From dance classes to drawing, gardening and games, the NSW Seniors Festival offers engaging activities for older people whether they are in a metropolitan or regional area.
“This year’s theme is ‘reach beyond’ and we encourage NSW seniors to ‘reach beyond’, step out of their comfort zone to try something new with friends and meet new people.
“The NSW Government is proud to present such a terrific event which is our way of thanking seniors for their tremendous contribution to the community.
All activities are aimed at people aged 60 and over with the goal of empowering older people to stay connected. Programs and activities will be available for diverse communities, as well as in regional NSW.
The 47 grant recipients were chosen from almost 300 applications in a robust selection process.
