A new $7.7 million Bay and Basin Police Station on the South Coast was officially opened this morning by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott and Police Commissioner Michael Fuller APM.
The state-of-the-art facility at Sanctuary Point includes a regional police charge area, interview rooms, CCTV and Audio Visual Link technology, modern breath analysis equipment, briefing rooms, modern workspaces and a secure victim support room.
The station is predominantly used for general duties policing and incorporates workspaces for visiting taskforces, detectives and traffic and highway patrol officers.
“The State’s south has received a boost to its crime fighting capabilities with the opening of Bay and Basin Police Station. The NSW Government is committed to providing the very best resources and facilities to police on the front line to support their vital work in the community,” Mr Elliott said.
Commissioner Fuller said the new Bay and Basin Police Station replaces Huskisson Police Station and has been operational since early this year.
“Bay and Basin Police Station advances our policing capabilities and brings several units together under one roof to best address the needs of the local community and respond to crime,” Commissioner Fuller said.
Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock welcomed the new facility and said it would complement the extra nine police delivered to the region.
“It’s vital we continue to support our police with modern infrastructure as well as extra officers on the beat to assist them in keeping our community safe,” Ms Hancock said.
Mr Elliott then joined Member for Wollondilly Nathanial Smith and Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves to discuss the six extra officers for Camden Police Area Command.
