$1.12 million in upgrades for Narooma and Eden courthouses

10 May 2022

Narooma and Eden Courthouses on the state’s South Coast are undergoing upgrades to ensure the buildings remain fit for purpose and retain their historical character.

Attorney General Mark Speakman said Narooma Courthouse is undergoing a $660,000 makeover and $466,000 has been allocated for the Eden Courthouse upgrade.

The renovations are being funded under the NSW Government’s $100 million Sustaining Critical Infrastructure Program to boost access to justice at courthouses across the state.

“The renovations include structural and aesthetic upgrades to ensure these beautiful buildings continue to deliver efficient access to justice,” Mr Speakman said.

“The work includes a lighting upgrade and carpet replacement at Narooma and internal and external painting and roof replacements at both locations.”

Parliamentary Secretary for the South Coast Shelley Hancock MP welcomed the court upgrades.

“Both the Narooma and Eden Courthouses are located in prominent well-known locations in their respective towns and I look forward to seeing the completed renovations,” Mrs Hancock said.

Both courthouses are closed until 30 June 2022. Alternative arrangements have been made for the court sittings at both locations.

The Narooma court sittings will relocate to the Moruya Courthouse on 12 May, 9 June and 16 June. The Eden court sittings will relocate to the Bega courthouse on 8 June. Court users who have matters listed on a particular day should attend court at the alternative location. Court users have been notified of the alternative sitting arrangements.
