Grandmothers Against Removal NSW (GMAR)

Suellyn is an Gomeroi woman who is a passionate advocate for, and founding member of Grandmothers Against Removal (GMAR) NSW. GMAR is a group of dedicated women with shared experience of fighting for the care of their grandchildren who had been removed. Suellyn fought for the Office of the Senior Practitioner to review her case, which increased her contact with her grandchildren, and resulted in her winning the fight to get them home with her as of November 2016. She now advocates for all Aboriginal children in Out of Home Care.
