How we will monitor and measure progress

DCJ is committed to transparent and accountable reporting on the progress and impact of the Multicultural Plan. Monitoring progress helps us understand what is working, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that our actions continue to meet the needs of multicultural communities and our workforce.

Implementation of the Multicultural Plan will be shared across all DCJ divisions, each responsible for delivering actions within their areas of work. Actions will be tracked against the below defined timeframes and reviewed to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

  • Ongoing: Business-as-usual activities monitored throughout the Plan
  • Short-term: 0–12 months
  • Medium-term: 12–24 months
  • Long-term: 24+ months.

Progress will be monitored through:

  • Division-level tracking: Each DCJ division will monitor and report on the implementation of their assigned actions, including milestones and outcomes.
  • Data and evidence: Both qualitative and quantitative data will be used to measure outcomes, such as client and community feedback, program evaluation, workforce metrics and engagement insights.
  • Adaptive updates: The Plan will be maintained on a digital platform, enabling real-time updates and adjustments to reflect emerging needs, trends and the evolving priorities of multicultural communities across NSW.

How we will report on progress

DCJ will provide transparent and regular updates on progress, ensuring accountability across the department and to the communities we serve.

  • Annual progress reporting: Progress reports will be included in DCJ’s annual Multicultural Outcomes Reporting Framework (MORF) submission to Multicultural NSW.
  • Internal reporting: Updates will be shared with the DCJ Executive Leadership Team ,DCJ Multicultural Plan Steering Committee and to leaders and staff through other formats to support continuous improvement.
  • Key achievements and progress highlights will be communicated through various formats to external stakeholders.

How we will review the Plan regularly

DCJ will review the Plan at regular intervals to assess progress and provide an opportunity for divisions to add new or emerging initiatives/actions, ensuring the Plan continues to evolve and respond to community needs.

Evaluation of the Plan

At the end of the Plan period (2029), DCJ will assess progress, measure outcomes and identify lessons to inform the next Multicultural Plan. This process will consider both measurable outcomes and qualitative insights from staff and the community.

Through these processes, DCJ will ensure the Plan remains a living document – responsive, accountable and reflective of our shared commitment to building a safe, just and inclusive NSW.
