We use the term Aboriginal to respectfully represent all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. DCJ acknowledges all Aboriginal Nations as the Traditional Custodians and original inhabitants of the lands now known as NSW.
We pay respect to the Traditional Custodians throughout NSW. We extend our respects to all Elders past and present, and to Stolen Generations Survivors and their descendants. We celebrate the diversity of Aboriginal peoples and their ongoing cultures and connections to the lands and waters of NSW.
We're working with Aboriginal communities across NSW to deliver community-led programs. Keep up to date with what we’re doing to make real change.
Aboriginal Child and Family Centres offer culturally safe services to Aboriginal families with children aged up to 8 years of age. They can provide parents and children with a range of supports to keep families strong. Learn more about Aboriginal Child and Family Centres.
Some Aboriginal families come into contact with DCJ at more than one point through their life. We are co-designing culturally safe services with staff and community to make it easier for all families to navigate government systems and break the cycle of contact.
