Strengthening child sexual abuse laws

Two new reforms are strengthening child sexual abuse laws. They started in August 2018 and are the failure to protect and failure to report offenses. These two offenses aim to reduce the risk of a child becoming a victim of abuse.

The reform package includes a range of measures to better protect children and improve outcomes for survivors of child sexual abuse. These changes are in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
