Healing from Trauma

The majority of kids in out-of-home care have experienced trauma, and the impact is lasting. In Healing from Trauma you will:

  • learn how to identify and respond well to trauma-based behaviours, and reduce trauma triggers
  • develop a shared language and explore collaboration between carers, caseworkers and other out-of-home care professionals
  • discover ways to create environments of safety for kids in out-of-home care, while building strength and resilience.

You've Got This!

Kids in out-of-home care are at greater risk of displaying problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB). In You’ve Got This! you will:

  • learn to how identify, prevent and respond to PHSB
  • discover the role trauma can play
  • understand and reduce the risks for kids in out-of-home care
  • explore current research, practical strategies and common language.

Endings and Beginnings

Placement changes and other transitions can be difficult for kids in out-of-home care. In Endings and Beginnings you will:

  • learn what transitions are
  • discover the complexity of transitions in care
  • understand transitions from three perspectives: caseworker, carer and kids
  • hear from Stephen, a young Aboriginal man who recounts his experiences of care, adversity and hope for the future.
