The NSW Government is improving access and amenity at the Tomaree Lodge site at Port Stephens to enhance the local community and visitor experience.
The Government has committed to ensuring that the site is retained for community use and public enjoyment following an initial high-level public consultation and more recent community engagement activities.
Tomaree Lodge has great heritage, cultural, environmental, social and economic significance. Any decisions made on its future must be carefully considered and preserve the site’s integrity, as well as protect the adjacent marine and national parks.

SHAC, a reputable local architecture and urban planning firm, was commissioned to lead the develop the Masterplan for the renewal of Tomaree Lodge, based on detailed site analysis, community input and specialist technical expertise.
Known for their expertise in complex planning and community engagement, SHAC will help our community shape Tomaree Lodge's future. More information about SHAC can be found on their website.
The Committee will provide advice to Government and contribute to the development of short-term and long-term plans for use of the Tomaree Lodge site. Committee members will draw on their personal and professional experience to ensure input reflects the diversity of experiences and challenges faced by the community.
The Committee consists of sector representatives and six members of the public who were appointed after a competitive expression of interest process. The Committee is chaired by the Mayor of Port Stephens Council.

We have established a new on-site Information Centre which includes two friendly new staff members. The staff will oversee operations, enhance community safety and support visitors. Staff are also there to keep locals informed about the latest developments for Tomaree Lodge.
The Information Centre is located near the entrance in Cottage 11.
Opening hours are between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.
