Aboriginal children make up 41% of all children in out-of-home care in NSW. It is a priority, where possible, to reunite these children with their parents or kin when it is safe for them to return home. This webinar focused on the challenges, pathways and positive practices which can lead to restoration of Aboriginal children back to their families. The session was chaired by Noni Greenwood, Director Aboriginal Culture in Practice, Office of Senior Practitioner. Dr BJ Newton from the University of New South Wales presented her research from the Pathways of Care Longitudinal study (POCLS) study on restoration from out-of-home care for Aboriginal children and families. There was a panel discussion on practices when working with Aboriginal families on restoration featuring Jody Stewart, Alana Ravulo and Cassandra Pew.
