The Welcome Experience is a Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) initiative designed to facilitate, attract, prepare and welcome key frontline public service workers to regional NSW.
Key workers include employees of the Department of Education, Department of Health, Department of Communities and Justice, Fire and Rescue and Police.
Through personalised preparation, warm welcoming and local collaboration, The Welcome Experience forges long term relationships between public service workers and their new community.
The Welcome Experience offers local knowledge to essential workers who are thinking of moving or have made the move to the regions.
The service connects public service workers and their families with local people and local resources to help you settle in and feel at home in your new community faster – everything from the practicalities of finding a place to stay, to choosing childcare and education.

I moved to Dubbo around nine years ago.
Living in Dubbo is amazing — it has such a strong sense of community.
Since moving to regional NSW, I’ve had more quality time with my family and more balance in my day.
I can go for a quick run in the morning, catch up with my mates for a coffee before work, and still feel connected.
I’d definitely recommend moving to regional NSW. Give it a go — you’ll love it.
