Role Overview

Services and Programs Officers deliver services and behaviour change programs to offenders both in correctional centres and the community. 

They complete a range of assessments and contribute to case planning ensuring the right services and programs are provided to offenders. This assists in the success of reintegrating offenders back into the community and reducing the risk of re-offending.

Role requirements

The necessary experience and qualities considered for the role include:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; or
  • relevant experience working with family, social and/or drug and alcohol related issues
  • current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice; or capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice
  • current driver’s licence with the willingness to travel throughout NSW.

Pre-employment checks

Pre-employment checks are a critical part of the Services and Program Officer recruitment process and includes a national criminal history check including fingerprint check, contact with offender check, and other reference and conduct checks. 


All successful Services and Program Officers will be provided with role-specific training to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil the job with confidence.
