Incorporating Inclusive Design Principles in the Internal Audit Work Practices and Templates

The challenge

Raise awareness and educate the team about Inclusion and Accessibility Design Principles, and enable incorporation and application of the same into our work practices, approach, documents and templates to:

  • contribute to making DCJ an inclusive and accessible organisation.
  • engage more effectively with our stakeholders.
  • communicate and connect with our stakeholders better.
  • provide our stakeholders a positive and satisfactory experience.

What success will look like

Team educated in inclusion and accessibility design principles - report templates will align with accessible content principles

Planned actions

Internal Audit branch supports an inclusive and accessible organisation and would like to help to make it happen by incorporating inclusive design principles in the Internal Audit work practices and templates.

  1. Attend in-house trainings (e.g. learning modules in myLearning about disability inclusion and accessibility)
  2. Conduct Continuous Improvement Program session/s within the IA team about he Inclusion and Accessibility Design Principles.
  3. Develop IA (Internal Audit) checklists or toolkits in which Inclusive and Accessible Design Principles are incorporated and be used in our work practices, especially when conducting stakeholder analysis.
  4. Place our templates and forms under review to align with the Inclusion and Accessibility Design Principles.
  5. Obtain feedback from the team as well as our clients to continuously develop and improve our work practices and internal toolkits.

Will now be part of business as usual activity. Internal Audit will continue to incorporate disability inclusion principles into our ways of working and reporting.

July-August 2022

Activities during this period as follows:

  1. IA Team completed attending the in-house learning in Thrive on Accessible Digital Communication in July.
  2. Our report templates were placed under review to align with accessible content principles
  3. We will have a Continuous Improvement Program on accessible reports in second quarter of FY22.
