Along with delivering key benefits for the Children's Court, the Justicelink project has enabled the Court to review practice and procedure to deliver a number of benefits to clients.

Legal practitioners will now be able to access certain information about a client's case electronically via the NSW Online Registry website. To access information via the Online Registry legal practitioners will need to:

  1. Fill Form 24 'Notice of acting' and file it at your nearest Children's Court registry.
  2. Complete the registration process on the NSW Online Registry website: onlineregistry.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/content.

July 2017: To coincide with the introduction of JusticeLink, the President has issued an updated Practice Note 5 and Practice Note 6, which can be accessed under Practice and Procedure.

The key changes are:

  • Once a matter has been set down for hearing any further material for the Authorised Clinician must be provided before the readiness hearing.
  • The Court will consider whether a matter should be referred to a DRC before the preparation of a final care plan.
  • The Secretary is to file a copy of each child's birth certificate at the same time the final care plan is filed.
  • Parties are no longer required to file their bundle of subpoenaed documents before the hearing.
