Time standards

The Children's Court recognises it is important to deal with cases in a timely and cost-effective way.

In the care and protection jurisdiction the Court aims to deal with 90% of cases within 9 months and 100% of cases within 12 months.

In the criminal jurisdiction the Court aims to deal with 90% of cases within 6 months and 100% of cases within 12 months.

Statistics

The Australian Productivity Commission collates statistics on the workload of the Children's Court in its yearly Report on Government Services (ROGS).

Statistical information on courts is also published in the Department of Justice's annual report.

The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research publishes a number of reports and articles relating to the criminal justice system including statistical information relating to juvenile crime.
