We understand that losing a family member as a result of a crime is a traumatic and painful experience.
The Victims Support Scheme provides assistance to the family members of someone who has died as a result of a crime in NSW.
The type of support available will depend on what happened and the family member’s relationship to the person who died.
For more information about the support available to family members of a person who has died as a result of homicide in NSW, see Support for family members of a homicide victim.
We’re here to help. If you are unsure of the support available to you or would like to discuss your situation, please contact the Victims Access Line or Aboriginal Contact Line to speak with a member of our team.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as the First Nations Peoples of NSW and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future.
Informed by lessons of the past, Department of Communities and Justice is improving how we work with Aboriginal people and communities. We listen and learn from the knowledge, strength and resilience of Stolen Generations Survivors, Aboriginal Elders and Aboriginal communities.
