Overview

Family Group Conferencing (FGC) is a family-focused, strengths-based form of mediation that seeks to strengthen partnerships between family members and encourage greater parental decision-making and responsibility, by bringing family members together with an independent facilitator to develop a plan for their child or young person.

FGC has demonstrated success in NSW and internationally at helping families stay together, both preventing entry into out-of-home care (OOHC) and supporting family restoration.

The FGC process provides a structured way for families to develop plans that promote the safety, wellbeing and stability of children and young people.
