Project objective

Illawarra Shoalhaven & Southern NSW (ISSNSW) Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP), Covering Action Area 1 (Employment), Action Area 2 (System and Processes), Action Area 3 (Attitudes and Behaviours) and Action Area 4 (Liveable Communities)

The challenge

Increase employment of people with disability, attitudes and behaviours and involvement in community living.

What will success look like?

ISSNSW District DIAP Progress Reporting has commenced with the first report - 15 July 2022.

Each Priority Area and associated Actions have the Owner listed, Resources Required, Measure of Success and current Status.

Progress Reports will now be issued every 3 months.

Planned actions

Promotion of Workplace Diversity Survey, commence Targeted recruitment plan, commence Office Accessibility audits and hold Leadership Forums 2022 with Inclusiveness theme

July 2022

  • DIAP Official Launched, December 2021, with an on-line function. 
  • Promotion of the  Workforce Diversity Survey
  • Workforce Analystics data reviewed
  • Targeted recruitment planning has commenced  
  • DIAP Manager's Resource Kit under development
  • Office Accessibility Audits have commenced
  • Leadership Forum held in February 2022 with Inclusiveness theme (direct linkage with ISSNSW DIAP)
  • DCJ Disability Employee Network promotion to ISSNSW District staff.

September 2023

ISSNSW District DIAP Progress Reporting has commenced with the first report - 15 July 2022. Each Priority Area and associated Actions have the Owner listed, Resources Required, Measure of Success and current Status.   Progress Reports will now be issues every 3 months. 

In July 2022, the District published the 1st Progress Report for District staff review.

In March 2023, the District published the 2nd Progress Report for District staff review.

Key achievements during 2022-23  include:

  • Completed an audit of current building/office configurations and determined what adjustments can be arranged locally to improve accessibility.
  • Reviewed the 2022 PMES Results.
  • Proactively encouraged District team members to complete the OneSAP Diversity Survey in order to improve the District’s baseline data.
  • Formally requested managers to utilise the Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) document to initiate an inclusion and accessibility discussion with all team members. 
  • Initiated a flexible working arrangement review at all sites and with all work streams. 
  • Initiated the People and Culture Working Group, which has oversight of the on-going implementation of the ISSNSW District DIAP.
