Aboriginal families are strong and connected

Areas of focus:

1. Uphold connection to culture and enable truth-telling to support healing
2. Strengthen shared decision-making with Aboriginal people and families
3. Work in partnership with and build the Aboriginal community controlled sector
4. Explore how place-based solutions might apply to improve whole systems

Shared clients are supported to thrive

What we do

We work together across our divisions and service streams to deliver these, balanced with the priorities outlined in this Strategic Plan.

Improve outcomes for Aboriginal people, families and communities and reduce over-representation across our services.

• Facilitate efficient and effective access to civil and criminal justice, including the administration of courts and tribunals and the enforcement of court orders.
• Facilitate efficient and effective access to legal services including support for, and regulation of, the legal assistance sector, and support for victims of crime.
• Support and supervise young people in contact with the criminal justice system to prevent offending.
• Deliver initiatives to reduce adult reoffending.
• Deliver initiatives to increase community safety.
•  Provide child protection and out-of-home-care services that keep children safe and well.
•  Prevent, reduce and respond to domestic, family and sexual violence.
• Build and maintain more and better social and affordable housing.
• Respond to homelessness to ensure it is rare, brief and not repeated.
• Coordinate disaster welfare services to support people affected by floods, storms, bushfires and other emergencies.
• Support thriving and inclusive communities, including for people with a disability, carers, seniors, children, youth, women, veterans, volunteers and multicultural communities.
