Joined up responses to support families

DCJ’s Linked Data Asset shows that from January 2023 to December 2024, 7,498 families in NSW had significant engagement with DCJ across multiple DCJ services.

 This data tells us stories of intergenerational experiences of domestic and family violence, homelessness, and contact with the child protection and justice systems. These data stories also help us to see our clients within their family context and move beyond thinking about our clients solely as individuals.

In DCJ, data is always treated with care and consideration for privacy, ethical and consent issues. We are also mindful that the linked data doesn’t tell us the unique personal characteristics and connections within each family. Every family has its own story shaped by strength, adversity and vulnerabilities, and resilience. We must listen to the lived experience of families to help us to understand how we can meet their needs.

We will provide joined-up service delivery for the families that need and want us to take this approach. We will use our data to consider what families with high rates of engagement with DCJ might need and how we can help to change their trajectories and support them to thrive.
