Work in partnership with and build the Aboriginal community controlled sector

We understand that Aboriginal community controlled sector development is a mechanism to support greater access to intervention or diversion services by Aboriginal people and families and may increase the likelihood of Aboriginal families being diverted from contact with our services in the future.

We will work in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to maintain strong connections to community and culture, and to achieve better outcomes for the people we serve. We will prioritise Aboriginal community voices to guide us in the creation of safer and more culturally responsive supports for Aboriginal people and families.

DCJ will actively work to support the capability and sustainability of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to deliver services and contribute to a sustainable and culturally responsive service system. This includes fostering long-term relationships, sharing knowledge, experience, and practices, and valuing Aboriginal leadership.

 DCJ will seek to develop strategies and take innovative approaches to procuring and commissioning services that will enable Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and businesses to apply for funding and opportunities.
